We can trace our roots to the founding members of the Manchester Stock Exchange, which was established in 1836. William Henry Ireland began operating his stockbroking business from the Commercial Offices in Cross Street, Manchester, and in the 1980s the company took over J Stephens & Co before floating on AIM in 2000. A series of acquisitions followed, which spread the company across the UK and even into Australia with the acquisition of 51% of DJ Carmichael in 2006.
The Group is now well financed from internal resources and declared its first profit for many years at the interim stage on 18 July 2011. It aims to provide a personalised wealth planning function whilst, at the same time, representing around 50 quoted companies with good growth prospects.
