WH Ireland arranges debt finance for sub-investment grade companies focussing on the following sectors:

  • Renewable energy including Biomass and Wind
  • Forestry
  • Property

Bank finance for business has dried up as banks with post credit crunch shrunken balance sheets are busy recapitalising themselves. The majority of small and mid-cap companies are going to have to look elsewhere for finance because the banks are unable or unwilling to provide it. Equity markets are going to provide some of that capital but debt will provide the majority.

Historically, access to the debt markets in Europe has been beyond the reach of small and mid-cap companies but this is changing owing to force of circumstance. We firmly believe there is an opportunity to provide mid and small-cap funding through unrated public and private debt issue. Such a market exists in the US and is developing in Europe too. We intend to play a part in that marketplace by developing relationships with specialist participants in asset management companies and family offices to sell our issues in these sectors.
